CUSTOMER SERVICE
IMPORTANCE OF MAINTENANCE
Whether your watch eventually needs to be overhauled, repaired, or restored, having it regularly serviced is essential for assuring its longevity. Watches & Service are able to comply with the extremely strict quality criteria.
Here are some recommendations for using and caring for your timepiece:
- Quartz and mechanical watches with manually wound and self-winding movements should be serviced every five years. Batteries last only two to three years, so they must be replaced in shorter intervals by an authorized Service Center or a retailer accredited to provide Essential Maintenance.
- A manually wound watch should preferably be wound every morning. This optimizes the flawless function of the movement and reduces its susceptibility to shocks and positional variations.
- Self-winding movements have a power reserve of between 38 and 48 hours (except special models). If the watch has been set aside or stopped running, it can be manually wound with a few gentle turns of the crown until it begins to run again.
- The water resistance of watches is assured with seals that protect them against the ingress of moisture and dust. We recommend having the water resistance of your watch checked once a year by an authorized Service Center or a retailer accredited to provide Essential Maintenance. The check takes only a few minutes.
- Leather straps can age prematurely in contact with water or when exposed to excessive sunlight. Watches with leather straps should be taken off at night to allow the leather to breathe. Please note that leather straps are not covered under the terms of the warranty.
To protect the properties of your watch in the long term, we recommend that you:
- Read the instructions carefully and follow the maintenance suggestions,
- Make sure your bracelet is properly adjusted to fit your wrist to prevent premature wear,
- Refrain from wearing a jewelry bracelet on the same wrist as your watch,
- Protect your watch against extreme temperature fluctuations,
- Avoid activities that expose your watch to frequent, unduly strong vibrations,
- Avoid severe shocks,
- Avoid exposing your mechanical watch to magnetic fields because they can alter its rate or even cause it to stop running,
- Make sure the crown and pushers are returned to their home positions after each use and screwed down if applicable,
- Refrain from using functions (actuating pushers or correction push pieces or setting the time with the crown) while the watch is underwater or still wet,
- Rinse the watch with tap water after each contact with salt water or chlorinated pool water.
